Damn CV joints again

Ok, I gave my car a real good thrashing last week through some mountain roads, 2nd & 3rd gear stuff. Managed to ruin my front tires in 3 hours of flat out driving. The car worked like a dream, so much fun to drive.

Then 3 days later while I'm parking my car with full right steering lock I hear a clunk from the right front side and there was a coresponding feeling in the steering wheel. I thought nothing of it, but when I go to drive it later, the car is pulling left under power and then drives straight when coasting. Grrrrr.

So I stop and get out, grab the outer shaft on the right side and there is about .5 to 1mm of play in the shaft, the left side has no play at all. The CV joints are only 17,000kms old!

The irony of it, they didn't break when I was thrashing the car but broke parking.

I think I'll replace them with OEM parts instead of remanufactured this time round. The Prelude is so sensitive, the shaft isn't clicking or anything but its enough to make it pull to the left.

Anyway, just needed to vent

umm is this play on the inner joint or the outer?? becuase if it is on the inner then that's fine and if you don't believe me find any other honda with a manual and put it in nuetral and try to move it and you'll notice the play, it's normal for that end especailly on older honda's that's why you have a spring loaded seal like on your cams and rear main seal. If it is on your outside then I wouldn't be too quick to blame the cv joint it could also be your bearing, you might actually want to jack you front end up and do the 3 and 9 oclock suspension check along with the 12 and 6 check and if you find any play then look inside you car to see where it is coming from.
