building a stroker????

i race dirt track with a 91 prelude si dohc 5sp ,the rules state that it must be oem parts for the make model and year of car. 90 and 91 preludes came with 2.0,2.1,2.2 engines. is it possible to combine internal engine parts from all three and make a stroker or even combine the intake, head, cams ect. i need more take off and top end. i allready have a cold air intake on it and i am looking at getting a header.i have four dohc b20's and another complete 89 2.0 race car, they handle really good but looking for more info on gaining more power . a few more questions... where can i get new head bolts for a 2.0? i checked all local part stores and it seems no one can get them. and do the b20's have problems with oiling on the #1 rod bearing? i have hd two engines burn up the #1 bearing.

First of all, welcome to the forum. How about posting some pics of your racecar?

To correct you, the 90 and 91 Preludes were never available with a 2.2L engine. Those came with the 4th and 5th gens (h22a). Fuel injected 90 and 91 ludes came with either a 2.0L (b20a5, 2.0 Si models) or 2.1L (b21a1, Si 4ws, Si ALB, or Si models). The 2.1L is OBD1 while the 2.0 is OBD0. The best combination to use would be to use a b21 block with a b20 head. This increases the displacement and the compression ratio. The downside is that the b21 block uses frm sleeves, which tend to wear pistons rings much faster than standard sleeves. The solution some guys have gone with is to bore out the b20 to have the same bore as the b21, and use the b21 pistons/rods with the b20 head. Another trick is to use h23 piston rods with b21 pistons because h23 rods have the same size wrist pins and rod bearings, but are quite a bit stronger than stock b21 rods. However, keep in mind that those rods would be against your rules since the h23 was not available in the 3rd gen.

You can buy new head bolts from this web site, items 21 (8 ea) and 22 (2 ea)...
Part Detail

I'm not aware of any oiling problems on #1. It's more common to have problems with the #3 rod. But usually if you keep your revs below 6500 you won't see a problem. Of course, I'm talking about street cars. I have no experience with racing 3rd gens.

Hope this helped you out some.

yeah i thought whole point of ppl using h23 rods to rev up to 8k to prevent what i did to my b21a1. number 1 rod broke in about 3 places while still connected to crank resulting in busted block front and back.
