bigger rims or adjustable cam gears?

Hey all,
I just got a bit of cash for a University Scholarship and I am trying to decide on Adjustable Cam Gears or Larger Rims.

Adjustable cam gears:
I want a 4 or 5 bolt pattern type so they can't slip and f**k my car up
What price range should I be thinking in?
What brands are the best for a 91 2.0Si B20A6.. Unorthodox?

Rims:
My insurance will only let me go 1" wider so 6.5", hence probably need 16x6.5". What is the best look? I really like the 6 spoke design, kinda like this (even though its 12 spoke):

(photo is of PilotSi's ride)
Although a solid 6 spoke design is great too! Hmm, so many choices!!!

Heres a pic of my car so you can compare rims....

Thanks heaps guys...
Stevo

Re: bigger rims or adjustable cam gears?

well if you like looks go for the rims i am not realy into the looks as much as the going fast part i got the cam gears and they well worth every penny i paid for them the low end power they gave my lude is amazing
the gears ran about $170 and the rims i got were $450 i got the rota bronze in 15`s
my opinion go with the gears but if you want rims get the rota in black they are phat

they are the gears that the timing chain is on, it coirdinates your crank position and valve position. the cam gears are attached to your cams and you cams have lobes on them that push the valves down. adjustable cam gears (sprokets) allow you to adjust the timing of your cam, to advance it or retard it. the idea is to get more overlap in the exhaust and intake cam, meaning they are both partially open at the same time. this creates a a suction, the intake valves push help push the exhaust out to clean the cylider and the exhaust helps suck in the intake charge. its called "scavenging." when the exhaust valve opens also determines the sound of your exhaust system.

btw, the 4 or 5 bolts doesnt really make a difference. think of how many people you personally know that had this happen to them. i have the aem 3 bolt ones and they work great. the intake cam slipped once, because i forgot to tighten the bolts, this was right after the install, i never checked to see if they were tight or not.

i installed them myself. it's an easy install as long as u dont need to retime your engine, that can get complicated but, even if u have to retime the engine it shouldnt take ya more than a day.

i've heard +/- 4 works the best. it supposedly gives a real good bit of low end torque. but i guess a dyno test while tuning them is the best way to find out.
