B20a5 with vtec

Hey guys, i am somewhat new here. but i am a 16 year old and have had my lisence for about 3 months. my dad got me an 88 prelude si with manual trans, and i was looking at it close the other day. i have the b20a5 in it, but it also has a vtec head. as far as we know its completely stock, yet everywhere i look, nobody says anything about the b20a5 having vtec. so i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this?

No VTEC if it's stock, and getting VTEC to work on there is quite a project...

Chances are you're not talking about a VTEC head, but rather a valve cover that says VTEC on it, in which I don't believe the bolts all lined up with the Prelude B-series heads, but I never tried to fit one.

Putting a VTEC head on a B20 is possible, but as far as I'm aware not with a B20A5. The CRV B20Bs will bolt straight up to a B18C VTEC head. Though I'm told the conversion from B20A to B20B is more of a PITA than it's worth.

It would be easier to boost it.

A DOHC VTEC B series head will work on a B20A5... with lots of midifications. And with out being able to spin beyond 7200rpm.... it's not really worth it.

Your best options for more power at the moment, is either boost or H22 swap.

The most you can pull out of our motors on N/A is 150hp, but we are still trying to find better ways to improve upon that. So keep searching.
