auto trans help - Honda Prelude Forum

I have a 89 2.0 SI with a k4 auto trans. I have to get car to about 4000 rpm and let off the throtle to get trans to shift out of first gear. After the trans shifts out of first it will shift fine through the other gears. It also ****s down fine. Just will not shift out of first like it should. Not real familiar with autos, was wondering if it could be shift solenoids on trans. Anybody have any ideas what might be going on or what and how to check.

I wish I could help you out, but I don't have any experience with Honda auto transmissions. Seems like I've read that the shift servos are not difficult to change out, but if I were you I'd talk to someone at a transmission shop to find out for sure. They are usually pretty helpful if you offer them a little money for their time. Call it a consultation fee.
