91 prelude alternator disaster
Hi Prelude fans, I'm a new owner of a 91 and to this forum. I got this car about 8 months ago and it is a joy to drive. It has around 143000 miles on the 2.05 liter motor with auto trans.I will post pictures later. My question, I just put in 4 rebuilt alternators and at a idle with AC and head lights on, alternator would not charge. If I bring the idle up over 1000rpms it puts out 14 volts. With AC and lights off it puts out 14 volts. I had one of the alternators bench tested unfortunately when they test it, it is at a high RPM and is working fine.
Any body out there have had or seen this issue and solved it? Really would like to get to the bottom of this problem. Mrcarguy
