89 Fog Lights Connectors

I have an 89 Prelude 2.0s that did not come with Fog lights from the factory. I purchased a set of factory fog lights on eBay to install on the car.

I'm having trouble locating the connector for the left fog light. The connector for the right side was right behind the blank taped to the wiring harness.

Do anyone know where honda taped the connector for the left side?

Thanks!

A bit more infromation. The connector on the right side of the car is orange or red in color and was taped to the wiriing harness with the factory blue tape. Inside the car, there is a connector for the fog light switch, so I have to assume all the wiring for the fog lights came in the car even though the car wasn't ordered with fog lights.

At this point I would even settle for knowing where the wires are coming out of the wiring harness so I can chase it back from there.

Thanks!

I added fog lights to my first 3rd gen, which was an S. No need to chase any wires. All of the wiring, except for the left side connector is there for you to have fogs and use the factory switch. Not sure why that is missing, but every S I've ever looked at is like this.

What I did was go to the junkyard and pull a fog light connector with a few inches of wire attached, and the fog light relay, off an 88 or 89 Si. Then I used some scrap wire I had and spliced the junkyard connector into the wiring for the right side fog light connector, and ran it over to the left side fog light position. You will still need to install the fog light relay into the relay holder in the driver's side kick panel. There is a position there, all you need to do is plug the relay in.

Let me know if you have any problems with the install.

Hey Colfax:

Thanks for the post confirming that there is NO connector on the left side on the S models and your offer of additional assistance. I wasted hours looking for a connector that doesn't exist on my car.

The factory electrical trouble shooting manual manual shows the two "hot" wires (Black with red stripe) for the fog lights being spliced together at junction S447. This splice point is located between connector C401 on the dash relay holder and connector C421 for the left side and C445 on the right side. Your method sounds much easier to add the left fog light connector rather than running a wire all the way back to the passenger compartment splice point.

I hadn't opened up the left kick panel to see if the fog light relay was there or not, but I did confirm that the 15A fuse in position 9 was already there however.

I'll let you know how my install works out once I locate an Si in one of the local bone yards and pulling the left side connector and relay.

Thanks!

Glad I could help out. I've been waiting for an Si to show up in my local junkyard since December. There are two S models there now, but I've already picked what parts I can from them. Hopefully you won't have to wait as long as I have. BTW, the left and right connectors are identical, so if you find an S you can grab the connector from the right side for your left. Good luck

Great, I was wondering if the connectors were the same of not. That will make it much easier to find a usable one. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.
