89 carburated shudder and missfire problem

I bought and 89 Prelude 2.0 S carbureted about a month ago on the cheap and it drives perfectly but when the engine is cold it idles very high, anywhere from 2000 to 2800 rpm. But once it warms up the engine shudders and misfires and the idle jumps around between 600 and 1100 rpm.
I recently replaced the air filter and had the oil changed and topped off my fluids, i dont know if that is relevant or not but I thought i would mention it.

I'm wondering what might cause this and some simple tests i could do myself to confirm whats wrong before i bring it to a shop. Thanks for the help!
