1988 Prelude S PS leak

I just bought a 1988 Honda prelude and while the exterior and the interior are rough the car runs and drives seemingly well except for one problem. The car smokes and there is a smell of burning rubber after a while of driving. I took a look under the hood and there is fluid bubbling and poping on the exhaust manifold. I think it may be the PS fluid as the car does have problems with PS and the day before I drove I filled the reservoir and now its empty.

My first question is would the PS be the cause?

And my second question is how difficult is it to change the PS hose and valve?

Sounds like you have a ps leak for sure. Fix it soon because I've read that the fluid is highly flammable.

The power steering hose is a real b**ch to replace, at least on the Si models. I'm pretty sure the S models use a slightly different hose. On the Si, it not only snakes around the engine, but the hard line on the lower end also snakes around the rear cross member. Make sure you take your time and don't get frustrated with it. It will not be fun, but it's necessary if you want to keep power steering.

What valve are you talking about?
