Zinc plating helps prevent rusting. For the extra 10/15 dollars a set I think it is very worth it. I have mine cadmium coated and I have heard they both work the same to prevent rusting. I have had mine on for a couple of months and haven't seen a spot of rust. I would spring for it if you have the money.

You mean Cadium coated right? I have a feeling zinc would just "burn" off from the heat..

I have zinc coated rotors and they still haven't rusted on the top or on the hub, which are places where the brake pad never touches...However, the pad will eventually wear down whatever coating you have on the disc and then you will be back to the original metal under the coating...However, this rust is easily removed by just pressing the brakes hard once...so, basically rust is not an issue with the zinc, but remember all coatings will eventually wear away where the brake pad contacts the disc.

No, Andy is correct, it is CADMIUM coated.

It's worth the money for the coating. Mine have been on the car for over 7 months and I haven't seen any rust yet. The brake pads will EVENTUALLY wear out the coating on the surface of the rotor where they make contact with the pads but the coating will protect the Hub and perimeter of the rotor. Once rust forms in those areas you'll never get it off. Pay the extra money.

Here are mine a few months ago.

Good to see you back on the board Dennis. How is everything?

I paid $10 per rotor for the Cadmium coating.

Or you could do what i did, get the regular ones and spray a high temp clearcoat spray paint on the parts of the rotor that is visible...the top edges...and the middle part....works great for me...keeps away the rust and it's cheaper, but actually i'd probably go the coating next time, just cause it'll last longer and just stay a little nicer! PEACE
