im gonna be putting in my xenon soon, so im wondering where everyone mounted their ballasts. since i have aem cold air intake, i have a lot of room to mount the passenger side, but the drivers side is kinda clogged up. where did you guys put ur ballast? you can list both drivers side and passengers side locations so this could be a good thread for people to look up when they have the same question.

hey mrm02, how did you mount yours onto your car? just with double sided tape? you didnt use screws? and how did you mount the left one? theres this piece thats already screwed into the side, did you take that off or something? cuz the guy who installed my ballast installed one in the same place as the intake, and the other like hanging. ill just have to take a pic.

That is exactly where I used to have the ballast mounted. But anytime I would open the hood after washing the car or after it rained or something water would fall directly from the hood onto the ballast. Eventually the ballast shorted out! Had to get a new one and put it in a different spot.

wait, so water only fell on the ballast when you opened the hood after water was on the hood right? not while the hood was closed?
here are pics of where the guy mounted my ballasts
and should i cover these two connectors up cuz they seem kinda open. what if water fell on those connectors? what should i cover it up with? what should i do to make everything a little neater.
Sorry its erm, too late but here's where I put mine:
Wiring through to the drivers side:
Passenger side:
And them in action:
All in all it took me frickin ages to install, I was stupidly careful though, cut all the wires to length and hid (no pun) as much of the kit as I could
HID's are waaay worth the money IMO. Huge huge difference. And I reccomend getting a lower ranged kit, the higher you go, the less usable light it will put out. Stay in the 4-5k range.

Can I ask how come? I'm not digging just interested.
Hmm tahts odd, i never got any problems with water (from rain and car washes)

I was told not to go above 6000k

What happens is the higher the kelvin, the more blue and purple the light becomes. The best usable light color is yellow, it allows you to see the best in clear and rain/fog conditions. So in turn, since HID's usually start at about 4000k, which is basically pure white, a little on the yellow side of white you want to stay as far down as possible. 90% of OEM HID's are 4300k bulbs which is what I have in my car. Out of the common range of HID's 4300k is supposed to be the temp that gives the best light output. 6000k is very blue, and will decrease your visibility (compared to a lower kelvin) by a lot. Also since it's illegal to put HID's on a car not factory equipped with them, having a low kelvin bulb helps because they aren't blue and just look like very bright factory lights.
