I wasn't paying attention and just put a little over half a tank of regular gas into my VTEC. Should I fill up the rest of the way with premium or get some octane booster? Will this have any long term effects on my motor, or just run shi*y till it's all gone?
no, you'll be fine, just don't make a habit of it. If anything, I'd say drive less aggressive and generally at lower rpms until you fill up again, but you should be ok. Lol, hey, could've been diesel.
it wont do anything unless you do it daily. Sometimes when im short on cash i put in regular, the worst that will happend is you will notice a little engine knocking.
are you serious? Your worried about putting regular unleaded in your car? You will be just fine. I usually drive on nothing but regular, nothing to worry about. I would be worried if i put a half a tank of water, but come on man, their is not that much difference between regualr and premium.
This is the only time I've ever put in regular. I did it to my mom's volvo once and it ran like crap, kocking the whole time. But there is definitly a difference between regular and premium. Although not humungous, still a difference.
yeah, for sure there's a difference, otherwise Honda would never have recommended it. Fram will argue they make a better filter than OE, but I still buy honda filters. Anyway, was your mom's volvo turbocharged? That might explain why it ran so $hitty on Reg.
Yeah, it was a turbo wagon. Great car, got me from Virginia to California and back when I graduated from college w/ about 110,000 miles on it. Although we did break down about 5 hours into a 18 day trip in North Carolina. The bolt holding up the alternator sheared right off. We had to take a bolt from the AC compressor and drive for 2 days w/ no AC in June. Awsome trip otherwise.
