would type-s pistons be worth getting....

I'm about to do my H22 swap into my 92 Si and was wondering if the Type-S pistons would be worth purchasing. I've found them for $380 w/ rings. Later I plan on putting in some Skunk2 stage II cams and their springs/retainers and was just planning ahead because I know higher compression will make a bigger difference with some cams that breathe better. So do you think an extra $380 now would be worth it? And if you have any place you know that sells them cheaper than $380 new than let me know also. Thanks!

11:1 compression. You will need at least 95 octanes to take full advantage of the rise in compression. Is you engine jdm if so I wouldn't do it you will have 10.6:1 ratio. An increase of 1 is about 2-3 percent in horse power providing you run a high octane.

when you say "providing you run high octane", what do you mean by that? octane is octane as long as you dont detonate. thats why putting unleaded race fuel in a stock car is useless.

You cant run a 11:1 engine on 92, you will detonate. In order to compensate you will have to retard the timing which will result in a lose of power. It will defeat any benefits the raise of compression provided.

s2000's have a cr of 11.0:1... they run just fine on 91 octane fuel...

you'll be fine with 11:1 compression and 92 octane. seen it done plenty of time with b series motors.

what motor do you have, jdm/usdm? if you have the jdm, it's useless for a slight bump in compression. might as well just add a thinner head gasket.

also, it's not just $380. if it was that easy. the head needs to be pulled and the block needs to be honed.
