Is it worth Repairing - 92 prelude s
I have a 1992 honda prelude s with about 230000 miles
It was just in an accident and the repair shop is saying 2500 for repairs (about half labor, half parts). The hood is crumpled, the bumper, front lights, radiator and A/C are all needing to be replaced.
The car in general (pre accident) was running great. The shocks probably needed to be replaced sometime soon and the CV boots were torn. The engine runs quite well, but i have to rev it over 1000 when stopped if i don't want it to shake the whole car.
The car has been in a few accidents in the past, but the only real problem was a slightly shifted frame that causes the muffler pipe in general to be a few inches out of place.
There is a new clutch and the belts are good.
The car has been well-maintained its whole life.
So my question is is it worth repairing or not.
The idea would be to get it to last to mid 2010. We would replace the shocks whenever it comes time ourselves.
The other option is to find a new car in the sub 5K range for that same time period or a bit more (I was thinking another prelude :P, but thats just because this car has been running like a trooper)
If the car is not worth keeping, are there any things special to preludes that its worth scrapping separately?
Thanks,
Mirus
(p.s. we need to make the decision within the next day because the car is sitting in the shop's lot)
