wobble in crankshaft pulley

I was changing my ac/ps and alt belts the other day and i noticed that my carnkshaft pulley was really loose. it wobbles a good bit. I tried to get the 19 mm bolt off, but there is little room in there, so i couldnt get it off. So, would it be ok if i just left the pulley how it is and put tha new belts on?
thanks

Chad

should get it looked at, too much vibration might snap the crank pulley bolt and thats some deep poo you'll be in if youre driving at a good speed

i had my crankshaft pulley bolt snap on my 4g.

I don't know if it was loose prior to that or not.

If the crank pulley comes off, there is a good chance the car will go out of time because there is a key that locks the timming belt pulley to the crankshaft.

If you drive it, drive very easy, and only to a mechanic to get it looked at.

well, how do i get tha bolt off then? there isnt much room between tha bolt and the wheel well to get a bigger wrench on there. I tried to get the bolt off from the top with an extension, but i cant get enough torque on it. What should i do? And once i get the bolt off, then what should i look for, like what would be wrong?

You will need the Honda crank pulley tool along with a breaker bar or something.
It's a tight space, but can be done.

You have to drop the engine a bit and then go through the wheel well.

I removed the crank pulley by:

1. Have a friend hold the flywheel with a long flat head screw driver through the transmission hole used to monitor timing. It's on the transmission housing

2. Use a 2 foot 3/4" extension from sears with a breaker bar.

3. Place a 4 foot fence pipe over the breaker bar and try to break torque.

I remember seeing a post w/ a vid of someone breaking torque on the crank pulley. I think it was 4biddens

Edit: you don't need to use the crank pully removal tool - it might be easier to use one. But a rachet and socket is fine.

thanks....ill try that tomorrow....but, do u think the pulley is bad, or is it just tha washer in tha bolt thats broke, causing the bolt to tighten and the pulley to wobble? What else could it be?

you can actually access it from the driver's side wheel well too if I remember correctly. If there isn't a flap like there was on my old Prelude, you can just try to fold back or remove the liner... maybe

You could do 2 things to get to the bolt.

1. Turn the wheel all the way to the right or all the way to the left . You should be able to reach the hole now.

2. The best way is to jack up the car remove the wheel and get to the crank.

If you are thinking about removing it, make sure you relieve the tension off the P/S and alternator belt..

As for the exact problem you have, I really don't have expereince to give you an answer. Anyone have any insight?

yea the problem is that the wheel well covers the bolt so i cant get a bigger wrench on it.....i have to come from the top with a pipe to get it.....and that wit a 3/8 drive rachet......and that wont provide enough torque to break it......so do i have to cut a lil bit of the wheel well to get to tha bolt or what?
