Wiring up my JDM 1 peices, running lights to parking lights? help?

I am getting ready to install my JDM's, and i dont want my daytime running lights to be on all the time. So i have 2 questions....

1. Can i wire up my day time running light H1 bulbs spliced to my parking/corner lamps? So they can turn on when my parking lights are on, will there be enough power to supply both of the bulbs?

and

2. If i want to just simply wire my H1 lights to a switch on my center console....where can i connect the power and ground besides my battery?

thanks!

for question number 2... try getting power and ground from the cigarette lighter housing... or even the radio...

If i got power from the cig. lighter then i could even use them as plain day time runing lights because they would come on when the car was on correct?

i think i might just do that, yet still wire them to a switch so i have the option of turning them on and off when i please

do a search, i ve covered this more than once, and i believe i m the only one who has done this, everyone else has wired the h1s as high beams. if you wire them directly to the cig lighter u ll blow em or fry the wires. u need thick gauge wires on the switch, and the harness, a relay and a about 15a fuse. I ve explained how in did. Search.

No wait a minute....What do you WANT your headlights to do and i'll tell you how to do it?

If you want your DRL to only be on with your parking lights, you have to splice a relay into the H1s and tie the relay coil to the parking wires in series.

Tell me what you want your lights to do, then i will give you more detailed help.

Ok, I have a more "descript" idea: this is what i want them to do:

I want to have the H1 bulbs (DRLs) Turn on when the car turns on. however i want to have them also wired up to a switch, so i can turn them on and off if i want to

so basically: the headlights, to a switch, which gets power when the car turns on.

ok so all you have to do is put a relay in line with your DRLs. and tie the coil to a switch and you can control the DRLs to either act normally or always off. so you'd have to cut the wire and put #30 to one side and #87 to the other side and #85 to fused 12v and #86 to switch. Then on the other side of the switch, ground that wire. And there you go. you have to do this for both sides

yes you absolutley need a relay. Cig lighter does cannot supply enough power safely. but you can get power for the switch from the lighter.

BTW you keep talking about puting electricity to you DRL. Do you want them on more then they currently are or something? or do you want them off more often?

i'm not exactly sure i understand what u are asking? do i want them on more often?

Si_g talked about a fog light kit, could i just buy one of those? how much are they?

EDIT:

and so, what would i need? A relay (what kind?) A switch, and some high gauge wire?

How would i wire them.......

thanks for the help guys, i usually am pretty good w/ figuring this stuff out on my own, but i just wanna make sure i get this right

get 2 of those 30 amp auto relays with harness and some 12 gauge wire. and any switch will do.

i told you how to wire it above. The wire you have to cut is the 12v supply for the DRL.

did you read my posts ? its pretty clear, but if it sounds complicated, save yourself some drama, go to a part store, and buy a fog like wiring kit. its no more than 20 bucks, it comes with a relay, and a 15a fuse. All pre wired and it comes with instructions . All you need to do, is wire up both h1s, hid your wires, ground 3 wires to the battery like explained, wire up the swtich to the car, use the cig light power source for power to your switch, and voila, its all done. I started doing it the normal way, but i just got tangled up with wires and relays all over the place. The kit comes with thick wires for high wattage, a switch with thick wires so it doest fry the wires, a relay. trust me runnin all wires like that, you ll have somr drama gettin it clean. get the kit and follow the instructions, just see it as your h1s are the fogs, that way, if you leave your switch to on, the circuit will always be close, so power will flow as soon as your turn to acc1, and same goes when u start the car, and will stay on til the you turn off your ignition which is the concept of daytime running lights. Now if you choose to leave your switch to off, then whatever u do, no power will flow through, so you can turn your lights on and off as you please.

Simple stuff man, just get the kit, and wire it up. The kit i got has all the wires wrapped in a white rubber wirer cover, and it looks real clean, u can see from the pics.

i read your posts...i'm just trying to cover all my bases. W/ the foglight wiring kit, instead of attaching it to the batter could i just attach the power to the cig. lighter itself.....and the switch/relay combination?

Look since you won't listen to us, why don't you hook your headlights up to your cig lighter and BURN OUT some fuses and BURN UP your wiring. Then report back to us how its doing what it says above so we can say WE TOLD YOU SO.

This is my last post in this thread. Don't ask us how to do something if you are just going to do it your own way anyways. Good Day
