My wiper arms are giving me fits on sunny days. Almost all of the paint has worn off and was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if you ever tried painting them?
Looks like a simple job of just unbolting them and cleaning real well and using a good paint like maybe alumi-hyde.
And if you have done this, any things to watch for or is it as straight forward as it looks?
Dont use gloss paint. Other than that, pretty straight forward.

the only difficult part of removing them is figuring out that they are "spring-loaded" and trying to find a way to take them off with that spring mechanism. you can do it!
Didn't take any pics before.
The only thing that I'd recommend is to clean and sand them well. I used one of those foam blocks that has the sand paper like stuff on all sides. Think I got it at Lowe's. My blades had some spots where the paint was chipped but in those areas the paint was already so thing you couldn't feel the line from the paint and bare metal.
I just sanded everything well and cleaned it in hot soapy water followed by a rinse in acetone.
Let it dry completely.
Once dry I took a hair dryer to it to warm the metal and hit it with Alumi-hyde black to use as a primer. This is hard stuff and durable. Have used it on gun parts in the past. Once that was dry I used the Plasti-kote Trim Black.
They now more or less look stock.
I sanded and spraypainted mine and it worked fine, and it lasted. Just remember that the wiper is held in position by the bolt, there's no alignment notch, so you have to know exactly where to angle the wiper when you put it back on.
Also, don't lose the bolt. I lost one of mine and it cost $5 from Honda.
And remember, don't take the wipers off if it's going to rain
the next day!

also did mine... used wal-mart flat black paint and its lasted over 2 yrs with no problems. like LudemanDan said, be careful when putting them back on to be sure you angle them right on the splines. If you don't they'll hit each other or go off the windshield or any number of things besides work right. Just pay attention to what you're doing and you'll be good.
