how specific? OBDII is much stricter when it comes to emissions - it doesn't let the car much out of a certain spec. It's been discussed a lot so I would look around the board a bit.

What does OBDII and OBDI have to do with compression? Nothing....
Anyways. Higher compression is better for NA, lower for FI.

In your case (or future case), 8.5:1 compression would be the best.

i think it depends on how much boost you plan on running, i dont think there is a 'perfect' compression ratio

I read in "Suck, Squish, Bang, Blow" in SCC magazine. I don't think there'd be a difference between having 8.5:1 or 9:1 though.

so then how do you check the compression rate??
whats the stock compression for the 94 models??
and how do you get a lower compression rate besides changing the head gasket?? and why does it make it lower??
sorry for sooo many questions I am dumb.

H23 stock compression is 9.8:1
The thicker head gasket makes a larger space between the block and head. Since the piston comes up the the top of the block and the bottom of the head gasket, it increases the size of the combustion chamber....thus lowering the ratio to which the air is compressed.
