Why Diets are Good

For every 15lb you loose its like gaining 1 hp. (VTEC model)
So avoid BK and hit the treadmill.. the cheapest, most reliable,
fuel efficient and easiest mod ever.

Any unique weight reduction ideas?

Is it true that losing 15lb = 1hp?

If it is then does that mean that my JDM Prelude VTEC is the equivilent of a 209bhp USDM prelude?

Cos the JDM base specs are 200lb's lighter than the USDM ones..
= 12.5 bhp,
And the JDM ludes have 197bhp to start with

Based on a power to weight ratio calculation (to be exact) your JDM is equivalent to a 211hp USDM.

200lbs lighter!!!!! **** thats light!!! How did they get that??

"200lbs lighter!!!!! **** thats light!!! How did they get that??"

No airbags.
No Cruise control.
No sunroof.
No abs.
JDM headlights are probably a couple pounds lighter as well...

I found out the weight difference on Preludecrazy.com, a great site for comparing the different specs...

Lets say you dyno your car and it puts 150 to the wheels. Then strip everything out of your car, sound deadining, chop off your legs, etc.

Then dyno it again. I'm pretty damn sure you'll still put 150 to the wheels. Dropping weight increases your power to weight ratio. There is no way it increases your HP.

Forth Generation.... no **** sherlock

..obviously it doesnt increase your horsepower, but it is the equivalent of increasing ur horsepower.

A fat heavy car with 200bhp is slower that a light one with 200bhp...

And all I was saying was that a base spec JDM one being 200lbs lighter would keep up with a USDM tuned to 209bhp

ie a 201bhp 2015 lb car would be same performance as a 200bhp 2000lb car...

Its not all about power its about power to weight..

No worries buddy....

Was partly my fault I guess, I thought that you were saying that I thought that decreasing weight was goin to increase my HP, whereas I was trying to say that the decrease in weigfht was the EQUIVILENT of an increase in horsepower....

By the way I notice you are after a JDM H22...

If you can get shipping cheap you can buy mine, its done 75k but has had its cambelt change and is a good motor, its in my friends prelude that was unfortunatly written off...

Nobody here in the UK is interested because a lot of the Preludes here are JDM imports anyway, and the engines never seem to give any trouble.
Ive advertised it for £800 with Engine, box, ecu and loom and had no takers,
That makes it around $1300-1500 US Dollars,
If you could get a good price on shipping you would get a good deal...

Want to drop weight? Yank that A/C system ... compressor, lines, etc! Now pull out all of that sound tar ... best way to remove it is to use dry ice .... just remove console, seats, trim and then remove carpet to expose sound tar ... now break up the dry ice into smaller pieces and spread it all over the sound tar ... let it sit for 20 min or so and the majorty of it will just pop up ... now for the stubborn pieces, use a paint scraper, flat head screw drivers, etc and a hammer ... it's really easy to get out and it reduces A LOT of weight ... this **** is all over the car ... under front/rear seats, in trunk, etc.. you can remove the spare tire and jack (this thing is a pos anyway).. since your a/c system is all out of the car ... remove all of the pieces under your dash that go with it ... take your stock wheels and throw them in the trash ... the si wheel's are over 20 lbs a piece without tires! If your tight on cash, opt for Rota Slipstreams (16x7, 4x114.3 now avaliable!) These wheels weigh in at 13.5lbs without tires ... now next thing to toss is that heavy stock hood ... opt for a carbon fiber one, saves A LOT of weight! make sure you pick up some hood pins.. you can also remove power steering and all componets ... I've been told that this is a bad idea, but mine has been off my prelude for two years with NO problems at all! When you remove the a/c and p/s don't forget to remove the heavy brackets from the block ... this will lighten your car quite a bit ... mine with all this done and nothing but a cold air intake and an apexi muffler pulled a 15.3, consistantly. It is now running 14.5 with the aid of Gude racing cams, skunk2 adjustable cam gears and a b&m fuel pressure regulator ... just my two cents ... hope this helps anyone looking to "loose weight"

Actually, £800 is closer to $1200. Hmmm.....

Naa, after the meet I just attended, I'm intoxicated by the sound of a BOV. I think 6-7 pounds of boost is aight for a stock H23...
