why arent my taillights and dashlights not working?

the tail lights and dash lights on my friends '93 VTEC Prelude are not working though tthe rest of the lights are. He said he checked the fuses and everything looks normal. Plus the temp and fuel gauges dont dim when the lights are turned on and the door chime does not come on when the lights are left on and the driver's door is open. Anyone have this happen? Any suggestions?

sounds to me like the car might have been wrecked before and the wiring was damaged either in the accident or during repair.. i dont know if there is anything you can do but just go through all the wiring and look for bad harrnesses and damaged or faulty wiring and replace it.. a very tedious task

Sounds like a bad wire harness.. try this check under the dash.. pop off the fuse panel cover and there should be this big fat harness with a bunch of wires on it plugged in right above the fuses. Mine went bad there..

Are you sure this isn't a fuse? There is one I pulled out under the hood that causes all the things you mentioned to go out. I don't remember which fuse exactly but it was a 20amp one.

It is definately a fuse, check ALL of your fuses. In the engine bay and in the cabin. I had the same problem and it was a fuse. I dont remember which one it was but it definatley was a fuse.
