Who has a relocated battery?

Im thinking about relocating my battery to my trunk. If anyone has done it, please post a picture. Also did you use a kit, or just get raw materials? What do you need to know aside from power cable and battery box? Fianlly, how do you install the battery box so that it is secure in the trunk?

Thanks, Jordan

Is there anythings special about the box, or just any old battery box. What is a marine box, cause I here people talking about those.

Also, how long of a 2-gauge positive cable do i need? Also, where did you ground the negative?

i gorunded it via 3 of the 2 guge wires to the floor of my trunk, i used about 15 feet of the 2 guge wire, it should use less if you run it under the car but i ran ine under the passenger capreting and through the firewall from there.

and yea any old box will do pretty much

What's the point of this mod? Weight distribution? Cleaner engine bay? Seems to me that adding 15ft of 2 gauge wire, all of the necessary equipment to relocate probably adds 10-15 pounds.

well you do loose the weight of the battery support under the hood.

I moved mine to the trunk, and its a worth while mod. the car turns in noticably quicker.

I haven't tried launching it yet though....

some ppl that have done this mod cause it is required of them, like some turbo piping or other aplication ... that require the space... i have look in my engine bay and when i get plans ticking in my head i look at that battery... i want to move it but not intil ther is a good reason too... some do it for looks... But like u guys said y move it... IMO if it has a reason to be move, move it... else leave it alone

On a hypothetical 2800 lb car with a 65/35 weight distribution, relocating a 35 lb battery from front to back adjusts distribution to 63.75/36.25

How significant this is, is irrelevant. Firstly every little thing counts, second 2% is somewhat relevant. Third, it clears up space in the engine bay whether its for turbo, looking cleaning or whatever else.

Hey guys, like mentioned earlier, this is mainly a mod for those who have turbo. It allows another cubic foot or so of useable space. It's really NOT for weight distribution.

BTW, this is my first post, also like most newbies, it took me forever to find this site, but it's a LOT better than hondasociety!

The mod serves to fold, and it really does help weight distrubition. Also, welcome to the board
