who has had a good experience with an axle back exhaust?

I have a WS catback but the pipe has rusted out where it meets the muffler. So I'm going to grab an axle-back exhaust since the rest of the piping is ok. I did a little research on the standard performance mufflers and they seem to almost all be straight through designs, which I don't want. Any recommendations on something that sounds good/quiet and doesn't break the bank. I've heard somethign about Bosal but haven't seen anyone try on yet.

there arent many pre-made axlebacks out there....so you're most likely going to have to get the little bit of piping added...but in terms of mufflers, vision, magnaflow, HKS, Apex, and if you looked around, maybe find a greddy muffler....

I'd recommened spraying the piping down next time with some high temp paint and that such to help protect it from rusting...

Thanks The piping itself came with a coating but I suspect they missed a little right at the joint with the muffler or else there was a bad weld.

The muffler is about 5 years old. My original plan was to try and save the muffler (still pretty good as it's SS) and just add new piping but the mechanic claims that the area where the new piping would weld to is too rotted.

Isn't the apex'i ws2 universal not straight through? Why not just buy that and have it welded in to you the piping you have now? That way you'll have the same muffler. I don't think you'll find an axle back that isn't straight through. Most of them are loud.

I'm considering it. I've heard that, unlike the catback version, the WS2 universal is pretty loud, but I could be wrong (plus it's a little expensive for just a muffler). The problem is that I'm probably going to be moving to Toronto towards the end of the year and the police there are becoming extremely strict about modifications to the point that it is ridiculous. Basically they think mods = street racing and they either ticket people or harass them. Therefore I need something discreet.

I'm also looking at the ES Tuning muffler. They have a flat black version that sounds pretty quiet but I've only seen it on one prelude.

It really depends on where you live. Not to jinx my self but I live in california and have never been pulled over for any parts on my car. My car is lowered, has rims, a kit and a rsr exhaust, had a greddy sp. I've been pulled over for other reasons but never questioned about anything on the car.

My piping is rusting too....I'll be bringing in some money this summer, so i may look into getting the WS2 Cat-back. I found a place on ebay where you can get it for under $400, the only this is the flange on my cat was cut off
