Who did the custom sub in their back seat?

I remember it was someone on here....Red92s?

They stuck like a 8" sub where the VTEC stock sub was.

I was wondering if there was still pics of it, and how it actually sounds...cause it's not in a sealed box right

Yeah, there is pics of it in a few threads:
new pics of the subwoofer console. . .
pics of subwoofer console in car!!

The sub is actually a JL Audio 6WO (6.5" subwoofer). I was powering it with about 100 watts. It sounded decent, but it was a huge step down from the IDQ10 with 250 watts I was used to. There is no way you can expect a 6.5" to play as low as an 10" though. The midbass was GREAT though (like drum kicks and stuff), very quick and very tight. It actually WAS a sealed enclosure, the back was formed with fiberglass to create an airspace of about .125 cubic feet:

I ended up selling it to another member, once I got my 10" enclosure finished. Apparently, he has had some problems with the black OEM plastic part seperating from the fiberglass. My guess is that this is due to the different expansion rates of the two materials (since it's located in a place VERY prone to direct sunlight and heat, right below the rear window).

I want to try something similar with the large cavity in the dash found in 92 S and Si models due to the absence of a passenger airbag. I'll probably go for an 8" this time around though. I do most of these little projects to increase my fabrication abilities, not for finiancial gain. If you are interested in doing something (I'm guessing small and light weight, given your performance-focused mindset), let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Nah i thought the box was making this rattling sound but it turns out it was the back panel that is the back of the trunk. it was loose and it is rattling like crazy.

Well I just picked up a 10" sub....hehe....Sony Xplod...

Now it won't fit in the stock piece....but I'm thinking could be done....

It says the enclosure volume needs to be .7 cu ft. any ideas? I don't care if the console piece gets bigger....

It's gonna be really tough to get .7 cf of airspace outta the console area, damn near impossible. Remember, mine was .125, so your talking about building somethind more than 500% larger. You may be able to do it if you turned the ENTIRE console area into an enclosure, but I think the physical size of a 10" would make that look awkward. GTF made an enclosure in his 5th gen out of the handbrake area of the console, there is pics somewhere. . .
