white smoke from sides of car

i have a 92 si and i already have the main relay problem where the car doesn't start while in the hot sun.. another thing to add to the list is when i'm driving normally i'll look through my side mirror and see white smoke coming out of the bottom of my car, while i'm stopped at a light.. when it happens is pretty random, the car can only have been started for 5 minutes and i'll see the smoke. any ideas? also its pretty potent when it happens.. it smells like something is burning. i'll have it checked out soon, was just wondering whether you guys can pin point it or not, thanks!

Maybe oil leaking somewhere due north of the A-pipe, or coolant, but there's more of a possibility of the former burning on your exhaust.

Check your oil pan gasket, particulary around the back side of the block, especially right above the A-pipe, and also make sure your filter is properly installed and not double sealed.

if its white, its not oil (as oil burns blue)... its typically coolant, but it could be tranny fluid, or maybe PS fluid (although i'm not sure how it would get onto the exhaust)

also you might want to check your cat, as if its old and not warmed up fully, it could let some smoke out. just another possibility.
