Where to start (again).

So, this past March I sold my 99 Mustang GT convertible so I could buy a 95 Prelude SE. I ended up doing a fairly moderate tune up, with the exception of the AEM CAI and Accel 300+ digital ignition system. The car ran strong and I had no problems from it even with 174k on it. Then, June 2nd came and as I had my car parked at a local airport it began to hail. Now this normally wouldn't be a large problem except for the fact that I live in Kansas and it was softball sized hail. What the hail didn't kill the tornado and rain finished off a few days later. Needless to say it was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The good thing was that I had full coverage and they cut me a check for 4867 for a car i paid 2500 for.

About 2 weeks ago I came across a clean 96 with an H22 and 107k that I picked up. The guy had bought it from an Acura dealer 2 years and 20k before and had put in a godspeed radiator, dc headers, and a 5zigen cat back. I have a AEM V2 on the way, but now I have a few questions on what else I should do. I'm staying away from exterior and suspension as of right now and want to focus on the engine.

I have been reading that the 96 models started the OBD II and wondered if I should start with changing it to OBD I or if I should just go with the Accel ignition kit? Also if anyone has done the OBD change what parts does it take and about how much does it cost? Right now I have about 800 to spend.

Dont worry about upgrading your ignition its really pointless the stock external coil works just fine. It really depends on what your goals are with the car as always. If you want to tune it I would definitely get it converted to OBDI. Im sure if you did a search you could find all the info you need on doing that. Look into getting the BPI Flowstack BPi - Performance Velocity Stack to go with your V2 intake. If it isnt a daily driver you could get rid of the A/C, power steering, cruise control, and ABS system to clean up the engine bay.

Yeah i would convert it to OD1 so you can tune it. There are a couple of website that will sell you a chipped ecu with a custom basemap and a OB2a to OB1 harness. That will run you about $280 and with this ecu you can put in Neptune or Hondata later on if you want to. Here are two good websites that you can go to get the ecu and harness:

phearable.net
xenocron.com

I went ahead and purchased a ecu and obdII to obdI wiring harness from phearable.net and then picked up a forbidden short throw. I think that will hold me off until next month. Thanks for the responses.
