Where and how much $ to convert idle pulley

I broke the H22 idle pulley and want to replace it with the H23. I got all the parts now question is, is it something relatively easy to do? do I absolutely need to bring it to a garage? would someone be interested to do it (someone who done it before) for some $$
The car is in Mississauga

Idle pulley? Do you mean the crank pulley? Just curious, how'd you break it?

Meant tension pulley install. The H22 is an auto tensionner and is known to fail. Mine did. I bought all the new parts of a manual H23 tensionner, now I just need to install it. Only problem is all the DIY are with the engine out. Now I need to do this with the engine in the car, but considering the limited space between the frame and the TB area, I was hoping someone might be able to give me some advise or would like to help me install it for some extra $$.

I live in the Toronto GTA area

Oh wow. Sorry. Its pretty easy to do with the engine out of the car, but otherwise things become more difficult

But hey, I'll be in the Toronto / Mississauga / Etobicoke area next week on business Not sure how much free time I will have tho.

I don't know if you've looked at pictures of the procedure, but I should have some of that area, they may help you get some ideas.

It can be done with the engine in the car....

You will still be able to use the DIY writeups with pictures for reference.
If you have access to a Helm's manual, you shouldn't have any problem. All you are really doing it changing the timing belt, but when you put it all back together, you follow the H23 instructions.

The one issue I find to have is in removing the lower plastic cover, The timing belt is not damaged or anything, and this is a temporary fix until I have more money to buy a new H22 motor that I can work on from being outside. All I really want to be able to do is squeeze in there and bolt in the H23 tension bulleys I just bought. Is there a way to get more room in between the frame and the TB? I assume I really need to pull the belt pulley as well? I read you can only take that one off with a impact?

You'll need a powerful impact wrench or a long breaker bar that you can stand on in order to remove the bolt that holds on the crank pulley. Also, you need to drop the engine on that side by removing the motor mount. You'll get some more room that way.

How many miles are on the motor? Might as well change out the t-belt, balancer belt, and water pump since you'll be in there...

Oh, did the auto tensioner completely break? Or did it just start making the tapping sound?

I took the engine mount off on the TB side and the motor did not move a bit... I'm just worried, theirs barely enough space to slide my hand between the frame and the motor.

I wont change the TB and water pump on this motor, I'm just fixing it to drive around till I got all my money saved to buy a new motor. Then I'll do all the work on that motor while it's outside the car.

The tension pulley just stopped working all together. I was driving and then boom, the broken timing belt symptoms came up... It's been a real headache since cause my car is parked at someone's house which he's not all that excited about and it's been there for too long, and the only guy I know who could help me is litterally never avail to help me... so I'm desperate to get this car out of this guy's driveway. (it's been almost 4 weeks now, and it's 3hrs bus for me now to get to work everyday)

Im not happy!

You will have to take the timing belt off in order to install the H23 tensioner. There is no getting around that....

just an FYI:
You have been referring to the "TB side motor mount." I am guessing you are meaning the timing belt side but using TB is confusing because many people refer to the throttle body as the TB...

If you have removed the side motor mount, you should be able to push down on the engine some to get more clearance. You will be doing all of the work with the timing belt while under the car.

yes the side mount is removed where the timing belt is. but after removing that, the engine didn't move a bit. Should I remove more mounts?

You shouldnt have to remove any more mounts. If anything take off the underbody plastic peices to allow you to see everything thats going on down there. Taking the crank pulley bolt off is probly the hardest part of the whole procedure you will want the holding tool for it you can buy it online for like $20 but it helps a LOT. Once you get the crank pulley off it should be easy to see what you need to do. Basically you need to change over all the tensioner parts from the H23 onto your H22.
