I had a question that I am confident members of this forum will be able to answer. Where is the best position to place jackstands on the Prelude? I know the location of the four jacking points on the car, but obviously you would have to jack up the car first on that small spot, and then put the jackstand in.
I don't really need jackstands very often, but I was given a set by a friend recently and they would come in handy for some jobs. My boyfriend took a look also but he didn't really see any spots, but he's used to pickups with frames where you can place a jack anywhere. Is there any spot in the middle of the front or rear of the car that would be a good spot to jack up, then place the stands on both side jacking points on the front/rear?
I know you guys know your jacking, so I figured I'd ask the pros...

Yeah use the tow hooks. Only problem is, you need a jackstand that will lift real high in order to get the jacks behind the wheels. A $20 jack won't work.

you mean a floor jack to lift the rear hook right?

And what kind of jack do you guys use that are slammed? All the jacks that we have around my house won't even fit under my car without having people lift up the front.. now that I have my lip, that will now be impossible :-/

or some pieces of wood...

I mean if you have a large floor jack that can lift the towhook real high, you can get jackstands under the four mounting points. (I hope that didn't sound repetitive).

what i have to do is basically use the service jack on one side.
jack it up a little, then use a regular floor jack to jack at the center crossbeam. jack up and put both jackstands under. then go from the back. and reverse on the way down. a little more of a pain but i usually don't have peices of wood laying around and my friend that has a low profile jack isn't always around.

i got a jack from sears thats for low cars. its kinda slim so it fits under the car, just just barely! since i have a lip that sags plus im lowered aswell. so yea, that works for me, its so damn close though. costco now has these low jacks in stock, i would def get them from costco. $100
Thanks for the assorted tips. I do have a floor jack that barely fits under right now- without the lip kit yet- and it also doesn't go as high as I'll need for jackstands That's what I get for cheaping out on the floor jack in the first place.
I do have a set of low angle ramps I use for oil changes, but those Takata ramps would be just enough to allow me to get a GOOD floor jack under there. Right now I'm also working on a gravel/grass "driveway", where clearance is good in one area but then you have to move the car when you find there isn't clearance on the other side to clear the jack due to the uneven surface.
I'll probably go with the tow hook or tie down hooks in the front and rear and work one wheel on each side of the car at a time instead of one side front and rear as I do with the jack right now. Thanks for all the tips and info!
