What's your guys's take on this? I am going through alot of fuel for some reason. I know that the shop leaned out my engine a little bit,but should I be going through a tank of fuel in about 140 miles or so. I am wondering if they progammed the computer to rich or what? I mean it's a h22 on a h23 block but I don't think that I should be going through that much fuel. What kind of mileage do you guys get??
Sorry guys I made a mistake, I meant to say that the shop richened up my motor.

Wow! I've been reading about people putting the H22 heads on the H23 but, man, if you go through gas like that I don't think I want that anymore. My H23 can go over 300 miles on a tank, about 30 mpg on the open highway and about 24 mpg around town.
I drive up to syracuse all the time which is 400 miles from here, and I can usually do it in one tank. I fill up at the start and then fill up again when I get there and it still only takes around 14 gallons. I figure that's around 28mpg or so, which is pretty good considering I go 80-85 the whole way and 100+ for a few straitaway sections. I have replaced some stuff on my car over the past year that have affected the mpg somewhat (fuel filter, distributor, tires, header, O2 sensor, plugs+wires) but it's never been as low as you guys are getting. even driving with a huge hole in my stock flex pipe I was still able to get close to 28. I would say check all of those things which could affect the mpg and make sure nothings bad. I don't think the injection cleaner would do much.
Hey bk it has nothing to do with the head swap, its gotta be a sensor problem or a computer program problem Well at least I'm not the lone ranger in this one.

That's good to know. I would like to do that some day if my top end ever needs work. It must be great to have the nice torque of the H23 along with the Vtec. I am curious though, how can you be sure that it isn't the head swap? Did the mileage used to be better?

I get about the same, thanks to my MSD 6 BTM & Blaster SS.

First thing I'd check is your true a/f ratio on a dyno with a wideband O2. Sounds like you are truly rich, though.
If they haven't been changed, change or check the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and O2 sensor. I'd also look for compatibility issues with the ECU, injectors, pump, etc., to make sure you aren't dumping in more fuel by accident through the setup.

Yeah that's me but uh one thing lets not go there until I have a problem, or even if I have a problem. That's a good point though. I know they did richin up my system pretty good , I bet that that's the problem. I have to get back on a dyno. They just cost alot. I wonder if there is any long term damage that could happen by being to rich, other than the embarrassing black smoke out of my ass every once in a while. I do know that my nos likes it rich.

In line four told me the same thing marcucci. I have a single cam computer with a dohc program, I would like to get a good h22 comp. But I can't find one,and they are also a grip of $$$$$$ I bet that maybe they messed with the A/F that way.
