When jumping service connector, is CEL suppose to come on?

I'm trying to set timing and can't seem to jump the service connector? I have a short wire with both ends exposed and jammed it into it. But isn't the CEL suppose to come on?

Am I even using the correct connector? Behind the radio, there's 3 connectors. One yellow with 2 holes, another gray one with 3 sockets, and next to it is a blue connector with 2 connectors.

I've tried jumping all three connectors, but my CEL isn't coming on. Anyone have any ideas? TIA!

Hmm.......ok first of all, do you have any CELs to begin with? I am not positive but I believe if there are no CELs on before you jump the service connector, jumping the connector won't change that. It should stay off. But honestly I never tried jumping my service connector when I have no CELs so I can't be sure.

But if your CEL is on, and you jump the connector, it should start blinking. Yeah and the blue connector with the 2 pins is the correct one. You can try a paper clip too, maybe the wire is too thick and can't fit in? Good luck.

So when I set timing, the CEL doesn't need to come on? Ok, that's fine. I HOPE I set it right...the red mark is 15 degrees right? I can't seem to find it really. I have a new flywheel if that matters?

Center mark is 15... you should advance while you are at it. I say 17. Some go 19 but it is your car.
