Wheel size and autocrossing/drag

I want to know from you guys and gals are there advantages/disadvantages on moving up to a larger wheel size, say, from 15x6.5 to 15x7, or even higher (16x7, 17x7), when you autocross, or go to the drag strip? I'm talking about 4th gens, of course .

for drag, you want a 13-15 inch wheel that is wide.. (225-215) size.. for auto-x i would run a 225/50/15...

Most advantages for auto-x if you go wider, just better grip for the turns.. don't wanna go over a 50 side wall, actually, 45 would probably be best. For drag... i would run a small tire, just so you can spin it well, and get a good launch w/ out my loss of torque from bulky wheels..

you can ignore me if you want.

not really its pretty much the same, although i do feel a lil bit more braking power because the rims i got now are more open, thus cooling the rotors off a lil better. The stock wheels where kinda closed up.

I have a set of four for sale still...if anyone wants it. i know jacques cant use it cuz its a 5th gen.

Thanks for the info guys! I have a friend that autocrosses his 4th gen Si, and was wondering about either staying with the stock wheel size, but larger tire (225 series), or to plus size to 16x7.

Oh, sohcpower, I'm not ignoring ya, but I will do this: :finger: !

if i were him, get some light weight 15x7's or 15x6's from tire rack (cheepie wheels), and just run a 225/45/15 on them. that would probably be your best bet.
