wheel hub going out

story:

I went to get an alignment yesterday (sunday) b/c i recently was in a minor accident and the person that hit me rubbed my wheel (front driver side)... i'm assumoing that caused my negative camber on that wheel

a comple minutes later they brought me out to say on my front passenger side wheel..... that i need to replace the hub and the bearing b/c it has some play on it... saying that the lug nuts were overtightend.. (i believe thats what they said...) they go on to say that sooner or later while your driving on the road.. that wheel is just going to suddenly fall off... im like wtf.... and i told them that i'll just do the work myself...

the tech that was working on my car for the few minutes asked me if i was hearing any noise from the wheel... and i said "No".... if did hear noise.. it would be very noticeable....

i remember when i installed tires on my front wheels myself... had to of been February '04 when i installed them.... that i used a torque wrench to torque down each lug nut to 80 ft/lbs.. just what Honda specified...

I'm also skeptical b/c i've been driving on the freeway quite a bit... going 70 - 80 mph....wouldn't my wheel fall off around that time...

so my question is this...

is replacing the hub/bearing BS?... i'm going to have my friend's dad check this out before i buy any parts... the hub itself $140 and the 2 bearings req. cost $80 a piece (list prices are off of hondaautomotiveparts.com).... but i just want some input on this.... i couldn't find anything that was wheel hub related other than doing the 5 lug conversion... but whats the likely hood that one of my wheel hubs just suddenly go bad????

cliffnotes:
- went to wheel shop to get alignment
- tech told me that i need to replace my wheel hub/bearing on front passenger side
- been driving on the freeway for quite a bit going 70-80 mph....
- curious if this is BS or not...

thanks in advance...

edit: checked the problem wheel... yea. it has some play on it compared to the others... which didn't have any play....

i'm thinking its the wheel bearing going out...

any opinions???

the play in it could be the tie rods also not just the bearings. if the bearing went bad you would hear a growling noise from from it. i wouldnt worry about the wheel falling off that is new to me.
