wheel bearings - hard to diagnose?

can you tell by looking at a wheel bearing if its bad or not?
also, I'm trying to figure out if the noise I am hearing is road noise from my ****ty paradas (yeah I know they suck ass) or from the rear wheel bearing(s). There is a deep, loud, humming sound that slowly gets louder from about 30-40mph then sorta dies off at highway speeds.

any tips on how to replace them, and what to look/listen for? I'd like to be able to just look at it and know if its bad or not....

Take off your wheel and hold the wheel stub and shake it or wiggle it, whatever. There shouldn't be any free play at all. Mine was soo slight that I barely noticed. I had the same problems you're having when my wheel bearing was bad.

You need to remove your rotor. Then you need a big socket (I forget what size) and take off the center bolt. To my memory, that was the only thing holding in the bearing. Luckily, I had an impact wrench when I did mine. I'm not sure how hard it is for the bolt to come off manually. Also, put some lithium grease on there when you reinstall it.

it could just be the tires.

do this...roll anywhere from 30+mph (where the noise is, but reasonable please) then cut the wheel to put pressure on one side of the car but try to keep your speed. this will in turn put more pressure on the hubs/bearings. if the noise goes away its the bearings. if it dont then most likely tires. this isn't fool proof though so use good judgment.

this is some more street sh*t tola
