Wheel bearing question

My front drivers side wheel is pretty loose. Im pretty sure its the wheel bearing. I ordered wheel bearing and it should be in this afternoon and I plan on doing it early saturday morning.
first question is..Im pretty sure the the axle bolt is a 36mm. Can someone please verify that because i dont have anything that big so im going to need to purchase one, and will i need a ball joint popper?
second question is..Has anyone done this before and have any advice for the fastest way to take everything apart.. i know i'll need to pretty much take th spindle somewhere and go get the new bearing pressed.
Im sure if i searched it i could find out, but i only get 15 minute breaks at work..any info would be greatly appreciated

thanks
seth

Is the wheel loose in all directions? If not, it could just be your steering joint. Otherwise, the fastest way to go about the process is to pull the caliper off, then take the rotor off, then pop the lower ball joint and then the upper. If you don't run into any hitches (which you will with suspension) it should only take you about 45 mins to pull that side off. I believe it's a 36 mm you need, but I'm not 100%. Also, you may need to take it to a shop with air tools to break that spindle nut loose. Just have em loosen it, and then put it back on and drive home. Good luck.

My advice is take it to a shop. You will need a bearing press to pop the bearing out. You could just take the whole knuckle to the shop, thae will save some money. I brought the knuckle to the dealership and they did it for $75 per side plus adding new longer wheel studs.

Or you could buy a new axle for less money than labor and the bearing and pop it in in 30 min's.

Yes, the axle nut is a 36mm socket. The easiest way to pull the axle is to take off the wheel, unbolt the bottom ball joint, remove the axle nut, swing the hub assembly out of the way and pull the end of the axle out of the hub assembly, pry the axle from the tranny, and pull the axle out.

Installation is the reverse, except you whack the axle back into the tranny w/ a bigass hammer.

that doesn't help with the bearing problem. If the bearing is bad, putting in a new axle isn't going to help.

The axle and wheel bearing are two different things
