what's your take?

so my engine starts making weird noises, i shut it off and can't start it back up. tow it back to my garage pop open the valve cover and see that one cam gear alignment arrow is at 12:00 and the other cam gear is pointing at 9:00......

just changed the timing belt on tuesday and now this. something was obviously wrong with the belt because it wasn't tight all around (i could actually remove it from the cam gear on the intake side). haven't removed the covers on the side yet but i know already i'm screwed. what a drag i just got my car in july... heh and i just joined PO a few days ago!

Well I am no expert but with that you probably bent a valve. You may be lucky though (you never know). You might try replaceing the belt (and praying) and try starting it up. You might get lucky.

later

if anyone here has changed their timing belt on h22a engine, i have a question. on the adjuster for the timing belt, there is a bolt that the thing pivots on, my dad and i couldn't find any torque specifications or anything really on how to tighten this bolt down in the helms. we figure that the bolt may have been too tight and the auto tensioner couldn't apply proper plressure to the adjuster and the new timing belt stretched and skipped some teeth or somethin. has anyone else heard of this before? damn helms didn't mention anything about the bolt.
