Whats this on my cat???

Hi Guys,

Im looking at upgrading my cat as a prt of my zorst upgrade. Im looking at Car Sound bolt on high flow, but I dont know if I need one with a boss or not.

I have a genuine '93 JDM SiVTEC (H22) prelude which is OBD1 to my knowledge and shouldnt have a secondary O2 sensor after the cat.

But....

I was having a look and I noticed this on the cat

See here too:

At first from afar it looked as the O2 sensor, but at a closer look it cant be!
Its smaller and only has 1 wire connected to it. My friends 95 Si doesnt have it. What is it? And does it have the same diameter boss so I can screw it in where the O2 sensor is ment to go in.

Thanks for your help!

it does look like an O2 sensor, the single wire is actually a heat sheild hiding 2 wires undernieth

no, its definitely 1 wire only. I disconected the wire harness and there is a single connector in there. Its much smaller then the O2 sensor which is up on the header.

It is one wire . It goes to a light on the dash board, looks like a cat with heat waves coming off top.

It is designed to show you when the cat is not working properly.

I guess as the cat heats up the copper sensor expands making a connection which illuminates the light.
