i'd like to know the answer to this as well: and a side note, which belt is a normal BAAAAAD squeeker? heh. Everytime i start my car it gives a nice squeek now, figure its loose. A/C belt? (is there sucha thing) or Tensioner. It's REALLY bad when its foggy/raining or moist out.

The best advice I can give you is bouncing RPMS, after the car has warmed up. But this tells you your belt is stretched/ or has missing teeth and is slipping on the timing gears.

Sometimes you get no warning signs at at and it just snaps...and your car just dies...if this happens DO NOT TRY TO CRANK IT OVER.

****ty gas milage is also another tell tale sign, if you go grom getting 350mpg and then you star getting 290 or 300..be worried

I always thought the timing belt was done as a preventative measure. On interference engines if the belt goes you buy a new engine...
