what would my theoretical redline be if...

If i had crower cams 63422A (the street/strip with stock idle lobes) and the valvesprings and retainer kits. With stock compression ratio on my h22a1? How would I keep my ecu from hitting the rev limiter after i put all this in? What controls it?

You'd have to get it reprogrammed at least to raise the rev limiter I believe. But, you'd really only want to rev as high as the cams make power.

I take it you are asking how high can you safely rev up your car. The cams are designed to make power in the range the car usually runs. I doubt it would be worth really revving it up. Even if you beef up the valvetrain you still have to worry about the whole bottom end not being designed to go that fast. You would probably ruin a bearing.

Exactly...the way I see it, there are two questions to answer when you're thinking about redlines:

Where do my cams make power?
What can my bottom end take?

Here's a pretty good thread that addresses the question of redlines:

redline thread

Theoretically, I doubt you would see any benefit if you raised your redline.

Here's BDB's Crower Stage 2 dyno with type-s pistons and lots of bolt ons Post your NA Dyno Plots!!

You can see he is peaking at 7000-7200 rpms so once again it begs the question why would you raise the redline, the fuel cut is 7800 already

thanks for the info. I'm in the process of rebuilding my head w/the same cams (crower stage 2) but with Skunk2 valvetrain and milling the head down, etc. and was curious about raising the redline and what not. Sounds as though it wouldn't be beneficial.
