91/92 octane is recommended... it will run using 87 or 89, and the knock sensor will pull back timing to prevent detonation with the lesser octane gasoline. I use 91 whenever I fillup, and have only gone to 89 a couple of times without any harm... however, you wont get the same power.

its called... you dont live in California... we used to have 92 as our "premium", but all the refineries started producing 91 instead of 92 to save some money at our expense. There are only a handful of gas stations that sell anything over 91.

Yes... you should be running 93 if it is available to you.

The sticker on the inside of the gas lid says "Premimum Unleaded Fuel Only"

Why would you run regular?

because 1 - it's cheaper 2 - i dont notice much difference with regular for driving to school and back 3 - when i notice a difference, i run premium through there

1 thing i always here people say is that higher octane gas will last longer than lower....like higher MPG...is this just a myth?

myth... the octane of the gasoline does not affect how much gasoline the engine uses. Octane ratings are purely to determine the detonaton resistance of the gasoline.

well, if you have less power from lower octane, then it would take more gas to create the same amount of power.....if you think about it that way

not exactly correct. The resistance to combustion does however have some play in mileage (I think at least), but probably not a noticeable difference. Despite what many people think, higher octane is not always better. It's mainly what the manufacture recommends for your car, and has mostly to do with the compression ratio of your engine. 91 is ideal for H23a1s and even H22a1s. It's not a matter of whether or not you notice a difference using 87, but the (slight) risk of detonation that using 87 poses. The faster your engine speed runs, the greater the chance of detonation especially if you're using the incorrect (lower) octane gas.

I might be wrong about the fuel mileage part, but I'm thinking if 91 is recommended, and you use 93, it won't be combusing as efficiently as 91, so excess gas is wasted, but then I don't know if the ECU will correct for that. Bottom line, if it's available, use 91, 93 isn't getting you 5 extra hp or any of that nonsense, but if 91 isn't available, 93 won't hurt either.
