I'm not locking this soley because I want to see what witty responses other people post. Please do a search, and then ask more specific questions. The K24 will require extensive fabrication and and the SR20det isn't even a honda motor. Really the only bolt-in upgrade would be going to a H22, or building the crap out of your current motor. Personally, if I had $8500 I wouldn't be investing it in a 13 year old car . . . I mean, that's probably nearly double what the car is worth.

Look, it's your money, I won't try and tell you not to spend it. But just realize that after dumping $8500 into your $4000 car the resale value might be up to about $6000. If you enjoy it, go for it, but just realize that you will never see a return on that investment.

Ok so you got money and you want to spend it. You could always send it too me. But that’s the obvious answer.

IF you have the H23 engine now, then I would just buy the H22 long block (complete engine minus tranny). That should run you about 1800-2000$ with shipping. Hopefully you are adventurous enough to do the work your self.

In the may 2005 Honda tuning magazine they have a nice little write up on the h22 engine.
figures from there article
Newer fly wheel - 150$
Newer clutch - 350$
Timing belt & manual conversion - 100$

Bolt on upgrades
Intake, header, cat back & cat - ~1400$

Head work
Cams, valve springs, retainers, cam gear - ~1600$

Ecu/tune
Ecu & fuel pump - ~415$

So I figure you could have a nice little h22 for about 6000$. Leaving you 2000$ to do something smart with, like a CD, or a saving account, investments, or a stereo for your car.
