What kind of gas to use?

Even if you put on i/h/e, should you still use the same octane gas that your engine is rated for prior to the modding?

So I might want to think twice about buying an i/h/e Si from a dude who's been using 90-92 most of the time? Or what are the Si's rated at?

You should use high octane gas no matter if you are stock or modded. Honda told me to use Chevron because of the Techron additive.

No. The car can run on 87 octane it will just have to retard the timing to keep from knocking and will lose a little power when running on the 87 octane gas. Si's say premium fuel only on the dash just like the vtec models.

i use 93 all the time because it is available in town. otherwise i would just use 91.

i like to have 93 in the tank so i dont have to worry about pinging when i adv. the timing

it depends on your compression ratio.

not always higher the better. for lower compression ratio engine such as prelude S, you need just normal unleaded gas. for prelude Si or Vtec.. you should use premium unleaded.

I/H/E won't affect your choice of gas to be used. unless you do FI or nitrous then different story.

higher octane rating means more burnable fuel percentage in it. that means it can withstand higher compression (therefore higher temp.) without self ignition.
