what kind of engine do I have

what kind of engine do I have, please help I would like to know. I do have some numbers I believe they are serial numbers for the motor.

Im not sure if I got the right numbers but the numbers are m2f4-400078 and my vin is JHMBB****TC000400

The number should be stamped on the front of the engine on the passenger side where the engine meets the transmission.

No no no...



It should be something like H22, H23, or F22/23 (did they have F's in 4th gens? I'm not sure)

That's your transmission. The engine code is to the right of that in roughly the same area except on the block, stamped on a flat square. It will start with an H, or an F.

The two numbers are an inch apart, the one you need is on the right and is stamped into the engine block, and starts with an H or an F.


Look at the picture below. It's more detailed.



The picture shows an H22A engine (right) with an M2B4 transmission (left).

but the M2F4 tranny you have listed above is originally mated with an h22

I figured it out I have a 1996 honda prelude SI with a H22A1 VTEC with a M2F4 transmission
