Its been sitting for 3 weeks getting painted so i finally picked it up to drive around and frist thing i notice is when i started the car the mph is pinned at 140 mph and the miles counter is spinning like crazy thinking its going 140 and my car adds like 500 miles everytime i drive it It also just goes dead and sits at 0 while im driving 60 mph. Anyways also my VTEC does not engage either. What the heck do you guys think happened to my car? i wanna ask you guys before i take it in to honda. Whoever tells me what exactly is going on gets paypaled a dollar

OMG i have no clue whats wrong with it but thats a spooky scray problem...like the car is possesed or something. Keep us posted on the problem if you take it to the Honda dealer. Goodluck.
sounds like it could be a problem with your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) start there maybe, as for the Vtec engagement, i have no idea, but usually Vtec wont engauges if the systems detects any problems.

Ok your right it does sound like the Speed sensor went bad, but when i first got my swap done the Cruise control never worked but everything else worked fine until a couple days ago. can someone please post a pic of this part (VSS)!

No picture, sorry. It is a small part, back side of the tranny. Look down between the intake and the back corner of the tranny and you will see it. There are wires clipped to the top.
Ok i found it. The thing is its not like my speedometer went totally dead and kinda goes crazy. Could there be a line loose or something? and the odometer spins like crazy so is it ok if i can unhook it so i dont get 300,000 miles on my in one week?

Mine was doing the same thing, minus the vtec part since I don't have that. I replaced the vss and it didn't help. Turned out it was my speedometer. I picked up a used one on ebay and that fixed it.

No check engine, cruise control was fine. Just the speedo, most of the time reading okay, sometimes jumping around, sometimes reading ~10-20 mph too fast.
ok my car just fixed itself when i picked it up today!! I knew it had something to do with the power steering and i turned the wheel back and forth and it just fixed itslef! Now vtec works and i know how fast im going.

I am having a similar problem, I just had a new h23 swapped in as well, also had the power steering pump replaced too. How could this cause this, it seems to read 10-20mph faster than I am going?

Hey,
I guess your install went pretty well. As for the speed thing, that is strange. The speed sensor stuff is all on the tranny and that should not have changed from your old car. I do know that the PS system interfaces with the VSS to control the speed sensitive power steering. It is also possible that the VSS may have been damaged during the swap.
You might want to check the connnection at the VSS to make sure it is tight. It is kinda buried but you can reach it. It is below the intake near the throttle body.
