what to get first....?

ok, i'm going to start building up my engine, N/A cuz i'm a poor college student and want my car to last

i have a jdm h22a and i'm planning on the folllowing so far;
cam gears
flywheel
2 stage clutch <- i heard it's better for dialy driven
shocks/struts
aem intake <- short ram or cai??
lookin for dual tip exhaust but can't really find one

there was more but i forgot..
i'd like to know in what order you peeps believe to be the best to purchase these items in since i'll be going one at a time, being a poor college student and all. any additional mods recommendations are welcomed, thx

1)shocks/struts
2)i/h/e
3)clutch/flywheel
4)cam gears

i believe in doing suspension always first for any car. *shrug* i guess i like handling over straight line speed.

although i like my suspension, i wished that i had put it off till last. i really coulda spent all that money on engine work.

start off with getting the intake (CAI). then move on the exhaust and header (can't go wrong with greddy, for both items). these would be i guess the most basic breathing mods you can do.

consider getting a hondata gasket for your intake manifold and maybe the energy suspension engine mount inserts.

also, some AEM pulleys may help.... i suppose this is a safe setup... anything after this would be considered a more aggressive setup, at least to me. i say this because the rest of the things, such as cam gears and stuff require tuning.

anyways... these are my recommendations, hopefully others will come and add and correct me if i said something wrong.

good luck with your project.

When I did my car, I did the I/H/E first, then the springs/shocks. If I were to do it over again, I'd do the suspension first.

Go suspension first. with my 92 I did intake exhaust then 17's and was just getting ready to do the suspension when it died. So now i gots the 93 and my H&R Race springs are on their way and I am picking up the struts on Thursday and after installation we'll see about a camber kit cause i dont wanna spend extra money on one thats more extreme than what I need

Besides if u really think about it H&R's are 150 bucks + some Gabriel Struts which are 80 bucks for all 4 corners its only 230 bucks to drop ur car is u got a buddy who can do it for ya for free Thats cheaper than an AEM intake shipped.

No it's not. I got my AEM for 190 shipped. Not to mention, if you want good shocks that will last, it's going to cost you more than 80 bucks.

And you most certainly will need camber kits for H&R race, I'm getting some camber wear on my H&R sports.

I would do suspension first. But in my case I did I/H/E first and them moved onto suspension. Does the JDM H22a respond better to header than the usdm H22. If not I would hold off on headers for a while since they don't do that much in the first place. At least not on the 5g's

suppositly the headers on the JDM are as good as, if not better then the DC ones, so.. i'm gonna old that off.. if i ever..

i'm leaning towards suspention since it seems to be everyones recommendation.

as for engine mods, anyone recomme d anything else that would help? thx

suspension first... It is the only part of your car that you can always feel.

i would agree with everyone else and go with suspension first. i like a lot of people got i/h/e first and would do it the other way if i could.
