what gas do you use

what kind of gas do you guys use 87 89 or 91...? i heard that SI and VTEC's must use 91. the prelude'a owner manual says "preimium unleaded gas only" and so does on the gauges on the SI and VTEC models.

i do too now that it says it on the gauges and everything else. i use to heard that 91 is bad for your car because it burns your engine and it's not good. suppose to use 91 once in a long time to clean your engine or something. But guessing prelude has such a powerful engine it need the good sh*t huh. fuken gas is going up like crazy.... but i dont blame her she's a prelude different from the rest...

I've been pumping premium for 7 years now. My last 3 cars all required it so it's now big deal to me. Pumping 92 here in Juneau.

I usally run 91 octane(highest in ca) if you run lower you have a higher risk of knocking but your car will retard the timing to combat this. So if you run too low of octane you can lose power from that.

Si doesn't have as hight compression so why is it still nessesary to run 91? Also what does premium mean?

I think that decreases performance b/c Si engines cant burn that high of octance. i think there was a guy on here that switch from 93 to 91 and he noticed an increase in performance.

I use 93 here in SoFla, but ran 87 last tank to experiment. Didn't see a big difference, but my fuel economy went up. Prolly because she's so willing to go with 93.

Only 91 (cali). I wonder if buying some OctaneBoost would actually give me better performance... does it?

9.8:1 vs 10:1 so the compression is near the same.

I put 91 in cali that the highest octant now....to you guys that put 87...my friend works for the oil/gas industry and he told me all the gas brand are the same like 76 or arco...he said that 76 use arco preminum when they run short..there is 1 main pipe the branch out to the each gas station...they would clean the pipe by flushing it with some chemical that then dumps to the 87 reserve that...so all the gunk is in the 87 tank...then they pump 89 down and then 91 (premium) last...as for the price he said it just marketing..like chevron put techron in there gas...just marketing....btw my friend is not a gas truck driver..he is a corporate CEO of an oil company...also design and renovate gas station...
I use a fuel addictive call "freedom fuel" it boost the octant and increase my mileage..and is proven..not just B.S. like the other crap..
hopes this help..
