What gains should I expect?

I am fairly new to the import world and I was wondering what gains I should expect in the 1/4 mile from a AEM CAI, APEX-I N1 Exhaust, DC Header and NGK Plugs/Wires? I was just wondering if my investment will be worth it or not? The car is a 93 Prelude Vtec and I am a good drag racer (11 Sec 383 '94 Z28) Thanks, Andrew Clark

Welcome to the other side! Those mods above(i/h/e) should be able to shave 0.25-.5 off a stock low 15. Probably about 10-15 hp to the wheels. It's no gain like a Camaro, but we drive these cars for many reasons other than speed. You seem new to the scene, so I will tell you, Preludes can run 11's, but it's very expensive compared to your old Chevy. What did 11's take? $10,000? Bored and stroked 350 with some crazy head setup?

Given the perfect conditions I would say 14.7-14.9

I ran a 14.74 @ 96mph in a '94 VTEC with only an AEM intake. the rest of the car was stock including the 85,000 mile clutch.

with the headers and exhaust you should run a 14.5-14.6

NIRVTEC: I think 11's on an LT1 require:

heads
intake
cam
long tube headers/exhaust
gears
tires
and maybe an ignition mod or something (don't really know the ingition setup on F-bodies)

Your example is an exception to the norm. Most will run 14.8-14.9 with those mods. Your car is just faster from the factory.
10 cars
3 above spec
3 below spec
4 at spec

You got lucky!

Running 11's in a LT1 is not an easy job!!! For money that is, I got my stock LT1 bored 0.30 over and stroked to a 383. I needed a eagle crank, ross forged pistons, Lt4 Valves/springs, eagle rods, max ported heads from CNC(flow about 295cfm), CC306 Cam, 58mm Throttle Body, Hooker Long Tube headers, GM 4.10 gears, K&N CAI, Ported Intake Manifold, MSD 6Al ignition with blaster 2 coil, Race Built Tranny, Aluminum Driveshaft, Custom Y-Pipe, Custom 4in exhaust with a custom tuned computer program for my exact setup. I didn't list all that was done to the car (that would take all day ) The car did a 11.4 on Mickey Thompson's at 121mph. It was all worth about 510hp. The week before I sold it I purchased a NX direct injection kit that was setup for 200hp shot that would have gotten me into the low 10's but the winter came around. I wanted to get an import because thy are more dependable and I LOVE VTEC!!! Thanks guys, Andrew Clark

Ps...any other bolt ons worth getting???

It excites me so much to see another Gear-head like myself cross-over. I never had an 11 second car, but my 1st ride was a 68 Nova. I jumped into the import scene with my 89 Maxima, and never looked back. You'll have fun. It's not all about brute power. I have had 1 break down in 3 years with my Honda, and 1 in 3 with my Nissan. I had 2 GM's prior and had 5-6 in 2 years.
Have fun!
