What does it sound like if...

1. Your harmonic balancer is trash or
2. Your timing belt is going?


All of a sudden im hearing a noise right in front of the stearing wheel.. Kinda like a whoaaa whoaaaa whoaaaa. kinda goes away if I hit the gas, but noticeable at idle,

edit: doesnt go away if I hit gas. Kinda get more high pitched now I notice.

hmm, hard to say. i cant think of anything ? anyone elsE? if you have a digi cam, see if u can take a sound and video sample, it might help.

I went and looked now that its light out. and it seems like the noise is coming from the top pulley.
