I am setting my appointment to get my VAFC installed and tuned by Dyno in about two weeks I am kinda pumped. Newho what kinda numbers do you guys think i will pull. With AEM CAI, DC headers, DC Cat back exhaust. I would like to wait to get my cam gears but the VAFC is looking mighty bored just sittin there since x-mas. So I gotta get it in unless you guys really advise me to wait. peace
Matt
Well, once the vtec controller is tuned, you'll gain power throughout the entire powerband, but your peak power is probably gonna be somewhere in the upper 180s.

I say maybe 175. I have all the above without the exaust, with a computer, fpr, and h23/h22 hybrid, and I am only doing 184, and that's with my vafc tuned. I will be really surprised if you go upper 180's.

Well I will let you guys know. I don't have my hopes up at all i was just curious. It will be a good mark to start at. i plan on doing more internal work as soon as the weather starts breaking. but thanks for the info.

DAMNIT...175?! i have this haha...but its not really a matter of high hp numbers, my car still beats my bro and he is putting 240 at the crank (92 Mustang GT) so there is more than just the hp...also we have 4.26 gear ratio so that makes up for the low hp numbers i would believe

Gears have nothing to do with horsepower numbers. They do have to do with how fast you will be on the street though.
i know that is why i was saying my car with 170ish whp can beat my bros mustang with 220-230 whp, the gears help us out to keep us up there with the bigger hp cars

Yeah, and that's why I was saying that basically, our cars are geared for more top end than 0-60 or whatever.... hence, the "higher rpms" part...

Hmm from my point of view 5thgen ludes should race if a good driver or a sc or something to back it up, this weight ratio kills us, even if the gearing is good.
