What do you have to do to raise the max speed?

I know a different ECU will remove the cutoff but i think i read somewhere about a civic that goes like 205 or something. To take a prelude up high what would you need to do?

um the transmission is the sole reason for top speed. You would have to get a custom set of gears.

uh, a custom set of gears, and a heck of a lot more horsepower. I'm not even completely sure that putting a super big turbo in it would get you up to 205 mph, plus you would have serious stability issues. Don't forget, a car is an airfoil, and without some way to stabilize the car, you'll be all over the road (and maybe in the air)

an S transmission will get you pretty high, not sure how high. the 4th gear in the s transmission is similar to the 5th gear in the Si transmission. but like they said - why? you need more power and torque and you have to make the car stable and have a lot more downforce to keep it on the road.

Your engine will quit making power for the car to go any faster unless you do some heavy mods.

There's a few ways you can raise the theorical speed limit of the car, rev the engine higher, change the tranny and/or gears, get different tire size.

This will tell you the theorical top speed your car can get if you change different settings.

http://www.autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi

Though like others have said you'll need more power to get up to that speed and the car will probably be unstable at higher speed.

like forbidden said. only three inputs will change your top speed (which is rpm times gearing) - tire size, gearing, and rpms. increase them and you go faster at top speed.

Lol, as opposed to making more bottom speed? I have yet to actually hit 130, and even then, I can't imagine it'll be sustained for very long.

Is there a reason you'd want more top speed and less acceleration? I'm assuming the h23 is geared perfect for getting acceleration out of that motor, and if you throw a transmission geared for an S motor, i'm assuming a lot longer gears, your acceleration will suffer dramatically.

Well as for me when I do get the chance to run against someone it is on the freeway when I am already at 90mph. I would like some longer gears, at least my 4th and 5th.

If you actually want to go that fast with your car....

....Your just an idiot for wanting to go that fast on a public road.

And I hope your engine blows on the way.

Still you are making your car slower if you put in taller gears. An Si will go to 127 with its gearing. I don't think you need to go any faster and to make your car slower for 99.9% of the time just seems like a huge waste.

Ok then what would I want to do to get there faster? Do you think cams would be the next step? I see the post for Crower cams. My 4th and 5th gears just lag a little too much for me. If I wanted to go that fast, I want to get there with no problem. Would you suggest NOS?

you can do any mods you wish... nitrous is probably the best bang for your buck. Look into getting an intake, exhaust, header, cams.. etc, any of that will make your car faster.

But if you go for NOS make sure you get at least two bottles.

hey, Fast and Furious, it's Nitrous, not NOS, NOS is a company owned by Holley, Nitrous Oxide is what you meant.

no offense, but i still think thats real dumb. who would want to hit the streets goin over 200 mph, i mean do u think u can outun the cops or something ? I dont care what you do, but just know that Jail will be awaiting you. If you wanna go that fast, go to racing school or something, but keep that ish off the streets. Damn it Nascars dont even go that fast !
