I have a 92 Si...i put a kit on, system and other little things here and there...i got an offer for $7000 for it...i have $4000 in the bank that i am about to dump into a JDM H22 5 Speed...my question is, should i sell my 92 and add the other 4 into it and get a 95-96 vtec? my family and friends think that it isnt worth it to drop a new motor into a 92 but since i got the body work and new paint job, the only think "92" on my car is the motor...also keep in mind that if i get a 95-96 vtec i am still going to drop a kit on and system, which in the long run will cost me more but my family says...ITS A 92!!!! DONT DO IT!...am i wrong to do the drop or should i sell it for a "newer 4th gen"?
i say drop the JDM H22A in! u have invested enough time and money into this 92 Prelude. Finish up the project man. It will make you feel 10 times better looking at it and remembering what it was like when you first bought it
thats what i am saying...no point in spending 12k on a 96 when i am 1 more mod away from finishing my 92...my father is big on cars, domestic that is...so he doesnt understand anything about imports...he is telling me to build up my h23 now and make it faster than a stock vtec...he rather me put 4k into my motor than to put 4k into a stock vtec...makes no sense...haha if i would of kept my Rustang this all would of been avoided...damn domestics and their brainwashing
yeh i love the sound of a nice BOV but i say its not worth it to do a turbo if youre not going to do everything at once...who wants to have a turbo and only run 7 psi...especially in a lude...i am probally going to boost my h22 down the line anyway...lets hope todays winning lottery numbers are the ones that i bought
Keep the 92!! keep the h23 engine and boost it with the money you have saved already!! Even if your only boosting 5-7psi its still going to be faster than a stock vtec, and you get the cool sounds that go with the turbo.
i say do the drop, much more worth your while than tryin to find a VTEC lude, i took me forever to find mine!! plus u put so much time and $$ into the body kit already, just doa drop and ull be happy!!

7-8psi well tuned will have more hp than any all motor h22. If you plan on building and turboing the h22 down the line it is a waste of money to buy IMO. If you are going to build the engine anyway your milage is negligable and you would end up spending 2-3k on the h22 that won't make much more power at all with equal boost turboed.
If you don't plan on turboing go for the h22. The JDM h22 will be stronger than the USDM you will by and I bet you can't find a ODBI h22 with as low miles as your JDM engine will have.

Just drop the motor in u will probably end up with less milage on the engine because jdm engines are usually 30-40k miles and u will not find any 4th gen usdm vtec like that
