What about LSD

How do you get lsd. Do you have to put in a new tranny? Or is there other ways? And if so about how much would it cost? Then in all would it be worth it. Thanks

Yeah, I have the same questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And by the way, can any of you gear heads out there explain EXACTLY what lsd is and how it functions.

you can buy an LSD and install it yourself. It looks like a major pain in the ass but doable if youre good with cars. They cost from 800 to 1000 bucks. there is a write up on the front page of hondaprelude.com on how to install one. they take the power from a spinning wheel and direct it to the wheel that is not spinning, more effecient. good luck!

Quaiffe is a mechanical / gear-type LSD. Doesn't wear, no maintenance beyond fluid changes at recommended intervals. This LSD goes for $1400+, it is probably the best one but is also twice as expensive.

KAAZ is a clutch-type LSD, the clutches will wear and eventually need replacement. I think they should last at least 20-30,000 miles. I don't think the clutches are very expensive, but I don't know how hard they are to install. KAAZ goes for about $800

All LSD's except VLSD will probably make noise and 'hop' a little during tight parking lot turning. Some people can stand this more than others, so be warned!

I'm not sure if Honda LSD's are VLSD or not.

The Quaife LSD used to cost 1395 back when I was buying them. They have since had a huge drop in price, and can be had for about 750 bucks. The Quafie is the best on the market hands down. The clutch types require more Maintenance, and just like a regular clutch they do wear out and will need to be replaced. The JDM H22 tranny is an option, but chances of finding one that is in good shape are slim and none this tranny uses an LSD made by Cusco which is also a clutch type. Those trannies already have mileage on them, and depending on how the previous owner treated it, the LSD could already be worn out. Save yourself the headache, and just buy the Quafie. You will love what it does for your cars handling.

does the Quafie LSD wear out very fast and if it does what do you have to replace to fix it.

Does ANYBODY know where to get one for under 800 bucks?? Or are they like Oakley's sunglasses, where the price will never go down?

here's a cool thread on a LSD install:
http://www.hondaprelude.com/resources/article.asp?id=52

I have a JDM limited slip tranny and I think it's clutch pack is a little tired, but it still gets 100% better traction than it did before I got it! LSD's are great!

Yes they do but you should never have a problem with it anyway.
